“The room was fine, but the service the worst we experienced”

It was a one-night, half-way stop on the way home from the family visit. We were looking forward to spending a day in Savannah. We had made a reservation, two weeks earlier, for a two bed room and confirmed the rate and room with a credit card. When we arrived, one half hour before the 3 pm check in time, we were told they did not have a two bed room for us. It was not that we were one half hour early, they just did not have the room we reserved. There was only one other car in the parking lot, in the front of the hotel, besides ours. In fact, it looked as though we were the only guests checking in at that time. They said we would have to pay more for the room. I showed the print out to the clerk. His response was that he will see what he could do to get a two bed room, but we would have to pay a rate higher than our printed confirmation. I have traveled quite a bit through the USA, only staying at respectable accommodations, and have never experienced a confirmed reservation that was not honored. Corporate did come to our aid, but the manager was hostile from then on.
