“better lighting, an armchair to read by, and a tasty breakfast”

  , Rolling Meadows
I'm a geezer and not one of those who the minute he arrives in the room flicks on the television. I had a fat book to read, and at the Wingate in Abilene there was an easy chair for my convenience and pleasure. But there was none in the Dallas room I occupied and the lighting around the sofa was poor and had to be supplemented by another lamp. Very disappointing... Plus, in Abilene the breakfast was delicious, with bacon and scrambled eggs. The omelets in Dallas, on the other hand, tasted like Army/Navy surplus-issued cardboard---simply awful... Also, the coffee was not at all tasty (again, unlike in Abilene where the coffee container was labeled by the brand; as you can tell, Abilene was my template to compare the Wingate at Dallas as well as the Wingate at Maryland Heights outside of St. Louis). I was very enthusiastic about Abilene but much less so Dallas's Wingate and even less so with the one in Maryland Heights.
