“Good beds, quiet room & shower heads make up for rest”

Go to area once a month on business and stay there due to rate and location and the beds are comfy and shower head is great. They have been undergoing renovations over the last few months and there is always some issue in past-charged wrong, charged twice, didn't reserve room asked for, and had 3 room switches over an hour to check in; broken bolt locks. THIS TIME: the manager upped the rate 15 minutes after the front desk girl gave me rate that I had last time, (he had been on the phone with an obviously very disgruntled guest when I was checking in)I went to check the ...he tried to up it $11.+ dollars but then only by $1.80 but still, just strange way to handle-and he made her do it. Also, this time they did not have soap or shampoo or enough towels in room, so I got all from housekeeping myself, except soap, due to they were all out...and when I contacted the front desk girl said yes, they were out, but that most people brought their own soap?? I said I had not and I wanted some. Grudgingly, the manager went out and later had gotten some from store- it was very clear he was put out about it.The toilet was off the hinges and after they fixed with another one, they did not clean, so housekeeping came to clean at my request. The phone by the bed was broken.Rate charge wrong for a couple of days after stay, but bill had correct amount. They have already said that they are going to raise the rates when they finish the renovations in a couple of weeks, and it is looking good...but maybe they need to raise the quality of care and customer service. The front desk attendants do seem to try on some levels but just have never been properly trained on some info and the computer and some levels of customer service. Breakfast attendant is excellent! New lady in housekeeping was eager to help and seemed like she knew what she was doing, although another one seemed "out of it".
