We had intended to stay here two nights but were more than a little disappointed. The room was fine and had all that we would need but smelt a little stale on entry. Also the front desk girl on checkin's body language made her seem disinterested. One reason we chose this hotel was because it offered a guest laundry. Unfortunately it was much more expensive ($2.75 a load) than we have paid elsewhere. What was really frustrating however was that the available dryer didn't work, but the sign saying it was out of order was hidden on the far side of the machine next to the far wall, which meant it was not obvious until we had already washed our clothes and fed $3 into the dryer. It was really difficult to find, and we couldn't see it, even when we were looking for the dryer instructions. As a result we had to leave the hotel with wet laundry. Also, as we are early risers we didn't take too much notice on checkin of the breakfast finish time (our fault) but with stuffing around with the laundry, missed it as breakfast finished at 9am. (To their credit however we were offered milk and cereal from the kitchen). Reasonable I suppose for a business hotel Mon-Fri but as this is in a holiday area, we thought that seemed early, and if you are not early breakfasters, you might want to consider that. Finally, we couldn't get the coffee machine in our room to work either. All in all, we were pretty disappointed with our experience here and as a result left Southport a day earlier than originally planned.
