“Room was great - but not the amenities inside.”

The hotel itself was a common cookie-cutter modern design. It was clean and smoke free.I stayed 4 nights in the 'best' suite in the house. I was mildly disappointed that the kitchenette did not offer a cooktop, but only a microwave. For an extended stay in the future, I will choose a hotel with a cooktop and/or a restaurant in the building.The 1st evening I attempted to setup my alarm, and noticed that the bedside alarm offered plugs for MP3 devices, but the unit itself was broken and the alarm could not be set without an amount of fiddling, plus the sound only came out one side of the unit.The in-room entertainment was most disappointing. The TVs were widescreen flat-panel displays, but did not offer any HD programming. Additionally, the remote control units were clumsy and did not lend well to navigation.Most disappointing of all was the Internet. I require high-speed internet for my business, and would have done more business in my suite, but the Internet was so absolutely slow that even streaming a poor quality video on YouTube was impossible.Overall, the room was very nice. Unfortunately, the common-sense amenities fell short. If I stay in Champaign again, I won't be staying at the Wingate.
