Stayed for four nights, and might well have given this hotel five stars, but it seems my room fell off the housekeeping map. On Thanksgiving, I came back to find the bathroom squared away, but no one had emptied the trash, nor made the beds. I am a relaxed sort of person, and given that this was Thanksgiving, and the housekeeping staff should get home as soon as possible, I did not report this. On Friday, I came back late to find that housekeeping did not even enter the room. Went to the front desk and asked for fresh towels, and reported the problems of the past two days. I was courteous and "relaxed" about it as I really don't want anyone fired over this, and the person at the desk wrote down what had happened (or rather not happened) in a report to the manager.I was surprised that hotel management did not respond with some type of apology and/or bill adjustment as housekeeping is not an insignificant part of what makes up one's bill. However, I heard not a word from management.I have stayed at hotels where unusual problems have occurred (e.g., just last year a water line break disrupted both water and climate controls at a hotel while in Ohio), and the management is usually quick to engage the guests (in the example cited, a letter of apology was distributed immediately and they did not charge us for the affected day). I am not expecting some huge refund from Wingate, but rather a simple acknowledgement of the problem and maybe some discount on the bill, and/or points credited to their rewards program. Hence, my reluctance to recommend this hotel or stay there again even though it has many fine attributes.One other problem was the heavy winds causing the room's window to rattle throughout the night. It did wake me up a number of times. Given how recently the hotel was constructed, I was surprised at this defect.Other than these problems, I was quite pleased at the friendliness and courtesy of the staff, and the nice size and layout of the room. And how clean it was upon arrival, and when housekeeping did attend to it. This is why I had hoped to give it five stars.
