“David the Houseman aka Tall David is the Man!”

We were able to check in early which was very nice! When we got to our room, 2 doubles, we got settled. We then discovered that the AC was not working properly in our room. We called the front desk and they sent up someone to look at it. David, the houseman, aka Tall David as there are two working at this Wingate, came up to try and help. He had no luck with it either, so someone from maintenance was called in. He also looked, but determined there was something wrong with the AC. He was going to inform the front desk. Within the hour, Tall David was back at our room telling us they had another room, with working AC for us to go to. He gave us the keys, then escorted us and our luggage, which he insisted on moving for us, to our new room. Our new room must have just been cleaned, and the chemical smell was very strong. I have asthma, and one of my guests get migraine headaches from smells. Once we told him this, he quickly ran to get a key to open the window and help air out the smell. He stayed with us for a good 10 minutes as when the window is open, it can be a hazard. It opens two ways, one wide open, which obviously would be a safety issue in NYC, and the other open at an angle which kept no one from falling out. While our room was airing out he went and grabbed us some extra towels and bath products, as he saw we had 3 people. He was for sure the highlight of our stay! When the room was finally aired out, he asked if we wanted the window open at the angle. We said yes, so it we could still get some fresh air. He did inform us that we would need to call someone later, as you would need a key to shut and lock it. It needed to be locked again, because with it just shut and no lock the wind would blow it open. Again, before he left, David asked us if we needed anything. He was amazing!Had some issued with the tv/cable, all channels had static to some degree. Called & someone came up 2 hrs later, after 10pm and said it was the cable companies fault. I think it was more a connection in the hotel issue.Overall an excellent stay, hot breakfast and free wifi was awesome! The location is great! Best thing however was Tall David! He truly was amazing!
