“Not up to Wyndham Standards”

Average stay, but disappointing for a Wyndham. We have come to depend upon a certain standard with Wyndham that this property failed to live up to. A few days before check-in, I read on TripAdvisor guest comments on the inconsistancy with this hotel concerning service, the pool/hot tub/gym and breakfast, so I was forewarned. Location was perfect for us ... close to I-10, restaurants and the Capitol. Hotel was fairly clean and inviting. Check-in was quick and uneventful. Then we got to our room. No toilet paper whatsoever! Come to find out, the new GM was late to place a supply order and we were left with shrugging shoulders and apologetic looks by the front desk clerks who had no toilet paper in the hotel to give us. Finally, one of the clerks went from room to empty room to find (1) roll so we could have it for our 5 night stay. Thank goodness for a Walmart close by where we bought our own toilet paper. I guess there's a first time for everything!Since we were there for 5 nights, we didn't really require room service each day. But, when we did and left our "do not disturb" sign off our door, complete servicing our room seemed hit or miss. It was never done totally or correctly and cleaning was never done.We were encouraged by the front desk to complain to the GM, but we declined thinking, "Why make matters worse?" It was apparent that her staff didn't have confidence in her and were left without water to put out fires, so to speak. In my opinion, with the proper management this hotel would be great and we would definitely stay again. The staff was very nice and accomodating, but you could just tell it wasn't a well-oiled machine, as most Wyndhams are.
