“Expected more, but got what I paid for.”

Made these reservations over 11 months ago at a discounted rate and was looking forward to our stay. However, I was disappointed from the moment I walked in the door. - Be aware of the skating rink that the front lobby becomes if it is wet outside. My sister and brother-in-law texted to warn me about it because they almost fell. - Make sure you read the fine print on your reservations. Had canceled one of my rooms the same day and knew I would be charged for the first night's stay. Lady at the front desk tried to tell me I would be charged the price of the full stay. - Room was a frigid 58 degrees when I got in. Wanted to sleep as it was late, but couldn't fall asleep because I was too cold for the first hour that it took to warm up. I understand wanting to save energy in rooms that aren't going to be occupied, but this was ridiculous. - Hallways and exercise room also frigid. Wear lots of warm clothing. - Exercise room is filled with old, rusted equipment. And you better hope you are the only one who wants to use the treadmill or elliptical, b/c they only have one of each. - Breakfast is OK, but nothing to write home about. Ended up eating breakfast out almost every day. - Notified the front desk that the hair dryer in my room was not working- it would turn on and get hot, but not blow. They assured me they would send someone with a replacement. That never happened. - On the second night, noticed the batteries in my room's smoke alarm had been removed and the door to the smoke alarm was left wide open. Called the front desk and the nice young man came up within 20 minutes with some batteries. However, this shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. On the plus side, the beds are very comfortable. Though my sister complained that the pillows are too lumpy. And if you don't like ANY noise when you sleep, be aware that it is right next to the highway, so you get some noise from that. Next year, I will be spending more money for a better hotel. And I will not recommend a Wingate to anyone I know.
