“Loved this place last year...not so happy with them this year!”

We stayed in this hotel last year when we came to Memphis and we liked it so much that we decided to stay there this year, too. I don't know what happened between last year and this year, but we were not so happy this year. First, the hotel is doing some remodeling, which is great. The bad part is they're laying tile in the lobby at check in time. We had to tiptoe to the front desk and weren't allowed to use the elevators on our first day there. UP the stairs with all our stuff! I wasn't happy. We get to our room and it's not ready...bed is stripped, not clean. Back down the stairs and out the side door and ALL THE WAY around the hotel to get back to the front desk so they can give me the keys to a room that is ready. Never did anyone say I'm sorry. Nope, not once. What I assume was the manager was on the phone fussing with the construction company about the tilework. We passed him later...did he apologize for our troubles? Nope. The wallpaper in our bathroom was peeling off. The bottom of the tub had seen better days. I don't know if all that will be replaced or not. Breakfast was cold on our 2nd morning...cold gravy, cold sausage, cold biscuits. Good thing they had a microwave.
